The Peter Shaw Trophy
The Peter Shaw Trophy, or to give it it’s correct title, The Peter Shaw Motors Trophy, was, as it’s name suggests donated by Peter in 1976 when he was in business as a car dealer in Brierfield. Recently refurbished, the Peter Shaw Trophy has always been regarded as the League’s most prestigious cup competition. After Vale Weavers won the trophy 6 years running (1986-91) Peter donated a replica for the Club to keep. Recent years have seen Trawden FC dominate the trophy with 5 wins in 6 seasons and prior to that Red Lion lifted the trophy 6 times in 8 seasons but to date nobody has matched the achievement of the Vale. A Runners-up trophy compliments the winners trophy and has been awarded since 1983 when Barrowford Celtic were the first to have their name engraved on it. Sacred Heart have been the runners-up 4 times since 2005 but unfortunately are yet to win the Peter Shaw Trophy.
Peter regularly watches matches in the competition and usually presents the winners and runners-up with the trophies.
